Date Night - Clay, Wine and Cheese at Ochre's Studio

For a date, my partner and I went to one of Lauren’s Clay, Wine and Cheese workshops.

We were very much beginners, I had completed a beginners wheel throwing course a few years before, and my partner had made a little cup during lockdown last year, but that was as far as our Pottery career’s had taken us. That did not hold us back - with Lauren’s magic touch.

As we arrived we were greeted by the rest of the class who were all giddy, welcoming each and every student who walked through the glass doors of the Studio, whilst enjoying the spread of delectable deli-bought cheeses and organic wines. The evening was perfectly dandy, with muted afternoon jazz playing in the background, I knew this would be a date to remember.

An evening to remember, a dreamy, cosy spring afternoon. With soft balmy light of dusk, natural floral scents from Lauren’s garden and fresh country-side air, as Lauren’s beautiful studio is opposite Mt. Chincogan and all the adorable cows in the paddock sun-baking.

Throughout the class, Lauren’s tone was nurturing and warm, making sure everyone in the class was comfortable, and understood her guidance throughout each step of the pottery making process.

Each and every person in that class came out with at least 2 pieces each, which we were all over the moon about creating. None of us thought in 2 hours we would be fun, a little tipsy and all creative geniuses when it came to clay. Either that of Lauren really had time to help each and every one of us complete our array of homeware pieces.

After the class, most of the students stayed around finishing our wine, flowing conversations with each other and joined Lauren outside to watch sunset.

It really was the most magical afternoon, and I could not recommend it enough to everyone and anyone wanting to feel rejuvenated, refreshed and de-stressed.
